General consultations

For anything that is worrying you, new or old. Same-day appointments every morning.

A standard consultation is the heart of general practice: fifteen minutes with a doctor who listens, examines, explains and agrees a plan with you. If you have several things to discuss or a complicated problem, book a long consultation so nobody has to rush.

What it includes

  • Assessment of new symptoms and illnesses
  • Review of ongoing conditions and medicines
  • Referrals to specialists and allied health
  • Requests for blood tests, imaging and other investigations
  • Medical certificates for work, study or carers
  • Preventive checks: blood pressure, weight, cholesterol, cervical screening

Who it is for

Everyone, from newborns to people in their nineties. You can see the same doctor each time or whoever is available first.

How to book

Book online or call reception. Say if the problem is urgent: we keep same-day appointments free every morning and they are given out from 08:00.

Common questions

How long is a standard appointment?

Up to fifteen minutes, which is enough for one or two straightforward problems. If you have a list, or a complex or sensitive issue, please book a long appointment (up to thirty minutes).

Can I see a doctor today?

Usually, yes. Call at 08:00 for a same-day appointment with whichever doctor has space. For non-urgent matters, booking ahead with your regular doctor gives better continuity.

Can I bring someone with me?

Of course. A family member, carer, friend or interpreter is welcome in the room if you want them there.
