What it is
We keep time in every day for emergencies. Call before 10am and we will almost always see you the same day; call later and we will fit you in or see you first thing tomorrow. Outside opening hours, the after-hours line reaches the on-call dentist.
What to expect
-
On the phone we ask a few questions to decide how urgent it is and what to do in the meantime.
-
The emergency visit focuses on getting you out of pain: an exam, an x-ray and whatever is needed to settle the tooth that day.
-
You get a fixed quote before any treatment. Definitive work, such as a crown, is often scheduled for a calmer follow-up visit.
-
Knocked-out adult tooth: hold it by the crown, rinse briefly in milk, keep it in milk or in your cheek, and call immediately.
Common questions
What counts as a dental emergency?
Severe or persistent toothache, a knocked-out or broken tooth, facial swelling, bleeding that will not stop, or a lost crown or filling that is causing pain. If in doubt, call and we will tell you.
What does an emergency visit cost?
From $120 for the exam and x-ray. Anything further is quoted before we start. Health fund claims work as normal.
Do I need to be an existing patient?
No. We see new patients for emergencies every week. Bring your health fund card and a list of any medications.
