Dr Whitfield is our travel medicine doctor. A travel consultation covers the vaccines you need for where you are going, how to avoid the common illnesses, and what to pack. Come at least six weeks before you leave, as some vaccines need several doses.
What it includes
- Country-specific risk assessment
- Hepatitis A and B, typhoid, rabies, Japanese encephalitis and other travel vaccines
- Yellow fever vaccination and certificate
- Malaria prevention and altitude sickness prescriptions
- Advice on food, water, insects and travel insurance

Who it is for
Anyone travelling overseas, especially to tropical regions, for long periods, or with children or a medical condition.
How to book
Book a long appointment with Dr Whitfield and tell reception where you are going. Vaccines are given on the day where possible.
Common questions
How far ahead should I come?
Six to eight weeks is ideal. If you are leaving sooner, come anyway: there is almost always something useful we can do.
Are travel vaccines covered?
Most travel vaccines are not covered by public schemes and are charged at cost. Reception can give prices for the vaccines you are likely to need.
